Description

I wanted to update my NewPB page to announce the 0.0.1 release, but the "Edit This Page" button seems to have disappeared, despite the fact that I'm logged in. I heard a rumor that this was an intentional site-wide change to deal with some comment spam. Do we have a fix in sight for this yet?

Users who are known not to be spammers can have the trac wiki edit permission. We'll give it out on a case-by-case basis.

Um, may I pretty-please have wiki edit permission? Could we perhaps at least provide edit permission to everyone with a commit bit?

Well, that sounds obvious to me. Unfortunately I do not have Trac admin rights, somebody else will have to do it.

I've added you to wiki admins, tekNico. You can give out wiki edit permissions now using the "Admin" tab in the upper-righthand corner of trac. Be careful with spellings etc. trac doesn't do any validation on inputs, so a wrong username will pass silently.

Thanks, exarkun. I'll be careful.

I am also going to need wiki edit permissions within the near future...

I'd assign you admin permissions, but I can't find out your Trac login: there's no oubiwann in there.

Replying to tekNico:

I'd assign you admin permissions, but I can't find out your Trac login: there's no oubiwann in there.

I don't know what to say; that is my login name. Guess we'll need JP for this one...

Done. There's no list of names anyplace, you just have to type in a username.

In the Admin -> Permissions page, you mean? [SLAPS FOREHEAD] Oh right, that's the list of only those that already have some permission explicitly assigned! Sorry. :-)

Wow, that's some sneaky Google ranking strategy.

Someone registered as bobby_brown added the apparently empty comment above: it contains a paragraph with a display:none style, and three links.

They then changed a few ticket parameters, apparently hoping to cover their tracks, and removed that login from the system.

I restored those parameters, but unfortunately the "Delete changes" command in the Admin page gives a TypeError: please, somebody with access to the machine, delete that comment.

Not much to do here. People can ask for edit permission on the IRC channel or the mailing list, or even post another comment to this ticket and hope someone notices.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
