One issue which probably contributes to this problem is the vast amount of memory allocated by the tests. This is also a problem in its own right, since it sometimes causes tests to fail when they are run on a host with less than a couple gigs of RAM. I have created #2275 for problems related to this.

Stupid process spawning is another issue. Conch is particularly guilty.

Running trial twisted on a device with limited memory like an IPod touch isn't working due to memory issues, it dies halfway.

Okay, that was fun. Tracking tickets are silly, anyway. If I were to do this over, I'd probably make it a wiki page instead.

The Twisted test suite isn't super fast these days, but it's a lot faster than it was. Tickets like #2201 need to be resolved for the overarching issue to be addressed. I don't think this ticket adds anything to the process.
