At this step I got the following error:

Cube1:~/ZopeInterface-3.1.0c1# python setup.py install
running install
error: invalid Python installation: unable to open
/usr/lib/python2.3/config/Makefile (No such file or directory)

I reinstalled Python2.3 to see if that would make a difference, but it
didn't.
