At first glance, it seems not so easy because the eval function in Flash does not work like in Javascript: its parameter can only be "a string containing the name of a variable, property, object, or movie clip to retrieve" and not any arbitrary expression [1].

Of course you can do that yourself but then you would probably find out that Flash's native XML parser does a better job.. that would be interesting to find out...
