That's basically what I had in mind.  I wouldn't want to change the 
behavior of callRemote() at all, as that could hit existing programs by 
surprise.

Well, assuming I manage to get you guys to include whatever hack I come 
up with, and it doesn't just live on my SVN'd version. ;-)
